This is my first piece with oils every, I have experimented with them before but never done a full painting. This is a daily item, a paddle board, I use at my grandpas lake house every time I go there. I am really proud of how this first oil painting turned out. I think I had a quality used of color and lights and darks. The composition of my original picture really made a difference when it came to painting it. Learning how to use oil paints had been really fun and I think I actually like them. I used many different techniques when painting, for example: palette knife for he lake and reflection in the lake, dry oils for the wood and then an additive to smooth the paints and paint with a brush for the rest. I really took a risk using oils because I stepped out of my comfort zone of strictly acrylics and I am very happy with the outcome. As an artist you have to step out of your comfort zone in order to improve and I think this painting really proved that.
